ASWD ready for the SA Cross Country Championships

Athletics SWD is in the final phase of preparation for the Cross Country highlight of the season.

We had our last ASWD / Decti Raising-the-bar Cross Country league event on 2 August at the Van Riebeeck Garden in George. A new route was introduced and we received lots of positive feedback from the athletes, a sure winning route and venue that will definitely be used more often. Thank you for the George Municipality that came on board with the preparation and cleaning of the park area.

Now it is time for the SWD athlete to focus and prepare for the Provincial Cross Country Championships that will be held on 16 August at Olympia School in Pacaltsdorp. Athletes from all over the province will participate this weekend on the official route that will be used next month for the SA Cross Country Championships. The event is also a trial event for the SWD Schools for their selection of school teams to the next level.

On the 30th of August 2014 we will also present the Western Cape Cross Country Championships at Olympia School in Pacaltsdorp. School and Provincial teams will participate together at this event for the final selection process to the National Championships. This event will be our last ‘dress rehearsal’ for the nationals.

The SA Cross Country Championships will be held on the 13th of September 2014 at Olympia School in Pacaltsdorp. The official Media Launch will be held on 29 August 2014. We still have stalls available for the event at R1,000. We estimate a total of 4000+ people will attend the event. Kindly contact me should you be interested.
