SA Road Race Walking Championships


Athletics SWD sent a small team to participate at this year’s SA Race Walking Championships that was held on Saturday 11 October 2015 at Youngsfield Military Base in Cape Town.

Our athlete returns with 5 medals and overall great performances:

SILVER 3km Girls 13 Moné Geldenhuys 17.23 Outeniqua Harriers
4th 3km Girls 13 Eden Alberts 17.43 Outeniqua Harriers (Athlete only 11 years old)
GOLD 5km Boys 15 Elwich Van Wyk 24.25 Outeniqua Harriers
10th 5km Boys 15 Jerome Ferland 33.16 Nedbank Running Club
GOLD 10km Men 35 Louis Plaatjies 58.49 Sedgefield Striders
SILVER 10km Men 75 David Morgan-Smith 1:13.14 Knysna Marathon Club
GOLD 20km Men 40 Ishmael Molahlehli 2:11.45 Military Sport Club
10th 20km Senior Men Hannes Van Rooyen 2:04.51 Sedgefield Striders

A special word of congratulations goes to Elwich Van Wyk for improving the SWD Record for Boys 15.

Congratulations to Team Manager Joe Arendse and the entire ASWD team for ensuring our 4th position on the overall Medal Table.
